Qatar’s vaccination campaign against COVID-19 pandemic has reached a major milestone as more than 80 percent of the eligible population (12 years and above) have received both doses of the vaccine, according the figures released by the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), today. According to the Ministry, 80.5 percent of the eligible population has received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. And 92.3 percent of the eligible population has received one dose of the vaccine.
20,381 doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been administered during the past 24 hours. The total number of vaccine doses administered since the start of the National COVID-19 Vaccination Program is 4,252,387.
Qatar has issued an emergency use authorisation for the Moderna and the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines. The current vaccination rollout includes two doses of either vaccine.
Qatar was one of the first countries to roll out the vaccines. The COVID-19 vaccination campaign was launched on December 23, 2020, after the MoPH approved the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines for emergency use.
