Awqaf increases prayer waiting time after azan

Doha: With the decline in Covid-19 cases in the country, the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has said that prayers will begin after ten minutes of azan (call to prayer), increasing the waiting time from five minutes.

The department also stated that for Friday prayers mosques will be opened 20 minutes before second azan.

This came in a fresh circular issued by the Mosques Management Department to Imams and Muezzins today.

“You are requested to follow preventive and precautionary measures to curb the spread of COVID-19,” said the Department in the circular.

The preventive measures are in place like carrying a personal prayer mat, wearing a face mask, showing green status on Ehteraz, and maintaining social distancing.
