One of the most ideal all-day breakfasts is a nutritious bowl of oats or oatmeal. Oats are both nourishing and satiating as they fall under the category of clean carbs. Oats provide fiber, and vitamins that are required to maintain energy even while losing weight. They are gluten-free whole grains and a rich source of important vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants. Oats are low on glycemic index causing balanced and sustainable blood glucose levels.
If you haven’t yet started eating oatmeal daily then here’s why you “oat” too.
1. Oats are incredibly nutritious and provides important vitamins and minerals
Oats are among the most nutrient-dense foods to eat. It consists of high amounts of Manganese (191% of the RDI), Phosphorus (41% of the RDI), Magnesium (34% of the RDI), Copper (24% of the RDI), Iron (20% of the RDI), Zinc (20% of the RDI), Folate (11% of the RDI), Vitamin B1 (39% of the RDI), Vitamin B5 (10% of the RDI) and high amounts of calcium, potassium, vitamin B6 and vitamin B3. (RDI is the daily recommended dietary intake)
2.Source of Protein and clean carbs
A cup of cooked oatmeal provides 28 grams of carbohydrate. Oats are healthy, slow-burning carbs, which indicates that they provide long-lasting energy and assist in weight loss, making it a great pre/post-workout meal! I highly recommend making homemade oats with plain oats rather than flavored instant oats, as they contain a lot of added sugar and preservatives, which defeats the entire purpose.

3.They are very filling and help in weight loss
Oats contain beta-glucan, which helps slow digestion, keeping you full for a longer time, resulting in reducing appetite over many hours. Oats thus is way better than cold cereal which contains the same amount of calories and therefore helps you control your weight.
4. Whole oats are rich in antioxidants and extremely fibrous
A variety of exclusive antioxidants known as avenanthramides are found in oats. Avenanthramides manifest anti-inflammatory and anti-itching properties and provide extra protection against coronary heart disease, colon cancer, and skin irritation. Oats also help in controlling blood pressure. Oats have a high content of the soluble fiber beta-glucan, which comes along with its numerous benefits. Oats help in reducing cholesterol, and blood sugar levels along with promoting healthy gut bacteria.
